Fence Pal Hay Net Feeder with fittings

HAY NETS MUST BE INSTALLED ONTO THE FENCE FEEDER FRAME PRIOR TO MOUNTING THE FEEDER ONTO THE FENCE.

B. Find the top loop of the hay net. Load one loop onto the frame, then weave each of the remaining top row loops back and forth onto Fence Feeder until the net is completely on the frame. Slide the net around the frame as you load it.

C. To close Fence Feeder, slide the hay net access back until the snap button clicks into place. Distribute the hay net evenly around Fence Feeder.

Fence Feeder is now ready to mount onto the fence.

Fence Feeder Mounting Options

A. To determine a suitable location, hold Fence Feeder in the prospective location and check to ensure that the bottom of the empty hay net rests minimum 6” above the ground. This is a basic safety requirement. If your empty net does not sit 6” off the ground, adjust either the location of the Fence Feeder or, more typically, adjust the length of the net. Either shorten it by adjusting the closure at the bottom of the net, or, if the bottom is not adjustable, re-load the hay net onto Fence Feeder further into the net (ie: instead of weaving the net onto the top loop, use a loop a few inches down).

Fence Feeder is a very versatile, simple hay net holder. It is primarily intended to be used on the top two rails of a wooden fence, but with the addition of two tube clamps, it can be used on walls.

1) FENCE MOUNT
Fence Feeder is primarily designed to be fixed to the top two rails of a wood rail fence and remain open for easy hay loading. The feeder can be mounted to either the exterior of the fence (the human side; recommended), or the inside of the fence (the horse side).

B. Push the hay net through to rest on the horse-side of the fence. Make sure that the carabiner at the bottom of the hay net lies on the inside of the net. If the carabiner is on the outside of the net, turn Fence Feeder around, push the net through the fence, and check again.

C. Place tube clamps over the top and bottom rails of Fence Feeder approximately 2” from each corner. Install a screw into each tube clamp (see photo),

3) Pull Up Gravity Mount

Fence Feeder can also be mounted onto a stall or shelter wall and used as a gravity mount. With the top rail of Fence Feeder secured with tube clamps, simply pull up the bottom of the frame and load hay. Gravity holds the feeder closed with hay inside.

2) WALL MOUNT - open-up to feed
Fence Feeder can be used on a stall or shelter wall when a HayPal Latch is purchased in addition to Fence Feeder. This method allows users to open Fence Feeder up and load hay into the hay net frame, then close it securely into a HayPal Latch. This open-up feeder does not hold itself open at 90 degrees (like our Drop Down Feeder), but it works well in this application.

A. To determine a suitable mounting location, hold Fence Feeder in the prospective location and check to ensure that the bottom of the empty hay net rests minimum 6” above the ground. Adjust the position of Fence Feeder to meet this minimum safety requirement.

B. 1) Install the HayPal Latch onto wall using 2 of the screws provided. Keep the screws loose until the final position can be determined.
2) Attach Fence Feeder onto the latch and let it hang down.
3) Mount 2 tube clamps onto the bottom rail of the feeder (approximately 2” in from each side). Install screws into bottom rail tube clamps.
4) Adjust the position of the HayPal Latch within the screw slots, to ensure smooth operation of the latch and feeder. To do this, move the latch up and down within the screw slots until the right position is found. Secure screws firmly into the wall.
